SEC Indoor Track And Field Championships Begin Friday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (February 24, 2022) —Texas A&M University will serve as host to the 2022 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

The meet begins at 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. Live results can be found at SECsports.com.

Live coverage of the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships will air on SECN+ at 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday and 1 p.m. on Friday. The broadcast talent includes Dwight Stones, Dan O’Brien, Jill Montgomery and John Anderson. A tape-delayed broadcast of the Championship will air on the SEC Network Sunday at 7 p.m. CT.

A total of 18 Southeastern Conference men’s and women’s track and field programs are included in the top-25 of the latest NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index released Monday. A nation-leading nine SEC men’s programs are ranked in the top-25, including six in the top-11. Arkansas is No. 1, Georgia is No. 4, Alabama is No. 6, Kentucky is No. 9, Florida is No. 10 and Tennessee is No. 11. Ole Miss is ranked No. 17, LSU is No. 21 and Texas A&M is No. 25. No other conference has more than three teams in the men’s top-25.

A nation-leading nine SEC programs are ranked in the women’s top-25, including four of the top-five. Florida is No. 2, followed by Arkansas, LSU and Kentucky. Ole Miss and Texas A&M are ranked Nos. 7 and 8, respectively. Tennessee is No. 16, while South Carolina is No. 23 and Alabama is No. 24. No other conference has more than four teams in the men’s top-25.

SEC men’s and women’s track and field athletes lead the nation in 16 individual events entering this weekend’s SEC Indoor Championships.

The defending SEC Indoor men’s champion is Arkansas, which captured its 24th title and second in a row in 2021.

The defending SEC Indoor women’s champion is Arkansas, which has won 11 overall and seven in a row. LSU has claimed a league-leading 12 SEC Indoor women’s titles all-time.

Gilliam Indoor Stadium has been selected four times to host the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships (2010, 2011, 2017, 2018) and it has served as host of the SEC Championships three times previously (2014, 2018, 2020).
