Brie Larson shares a brand new workout video showing that she’s still keeping herself in shape to play Captain Marvel in Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels.
Brie Larson continues to train hard for her role as Carol Danvers in The Marvels. After the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios caught fans up with what Captain Marvel had been doing through her brief appearance in Shang-Chi and the Legends of Ten Rings‘ post-credits scene. But soon, she will headline her own film alongside Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani).
Plot details for The Marvels are currently kept tightly under wraps. But the film, which is technically Captain Marvel 2, is directed by Nia DaCosta and will see the trio come together for a new mission. Like the rest of the MCU slate, the movie was pushed back a couple of times, but production quietly started and progressed for the most part of 2021. The film has wrapped, but that hasn’t stopped Larson from keeping up with her training in case she needs to return for reshoots.
Taking it to her official Instagram account, the Academy Award-winning actress shared a video of herself working out. Aside from sharing the specifics of her training for the day, Larson, unfortunately, didn’t give any new detail about The Marvels. Nonetheless, fans are happy to see her training, especially knowing how hard she’s worked before to prepare for playing the role of Captain Marvel in the MCU. Watch the video below:
Over the years, the idea of reshoots has developed a bad connotation due to several blockbusters that underwent last-minute additional work that ended up being disappointments. But, it’s worth noting that they are usually baked into a project’s schedule, especially for high-profile and bigger ones as it offers the studio and directors to have wiggle room in case something needs to be changed or added from what was shot during principal photography. So, depending on how production for The Marvels went, Larson continuing her training regimen is a smart move as she could be called back in for reshoots anytime in the next few months.
Aside from the practicality of continuing to work out in case The Marvels does reshoots, it’s also in line with Larson’s recent update regarding the film. While she couldn’t talk about plot specifics, she did say that Captain Marvel will be more powerful than the last time fans saw her in Avengers: Endgame. It’s currently uncertain how this relates to her dynamic with both Monica and Kamala, but it’ll be interesting to see how Marvel Studios will utilize the character moving forward without using her as a Deux Machina.
